Automatically generate item names from column values using customizable templates.
Getting Started
1. Install the App
Install AutoName from the monday.com marketplace. After installation, you'll find it in your board's app panel.
2. Create a Template
Click "New Template" and enter your naming pattern. Use {column_name} syntax to reference column values.
3. Enable Automation
Toggle the template to active. Item names will update automatically when column values change.
Template Syntax
Templates use curly braces to reference column values. You can combine static text with column references.
Examples:
{status} - {name} → "Done - My Task"
[{priority}] {name} → "[High] My Task"
{person} | {date} | {status} → "John | Dec 1 | Working"
Available Placeholders:
{name}- Original item name{status}- Status column value{person}- Assigned person{date}- Date column value{priority}- Priority value{text}- Any text column{number}- Number column
Formulas:
Apply transformations to values:
UPPERCASE({name})- Convert to uppercaseLOWERCASE({status})- Convert to lowercaseCAPITALIZE({text})- Capitalize first letterTRUNCATE({name}, 20)- Limit to 20 characters
